No sound , Toshiba Laptop

I have no sound with Presto on Windows XP on a Toshiba M105-S1021 laptop. When I type "alsamixer" on Terminal:

When I type "sudo nano /ect/sbin/modprobe d.sound the file is blank.. sudo alsaconf :

Now ALSA is ready to use.
For adjustment of volumes, use your favorite mixer.

I think there is no alsa-base driver file or no files to update. also I tried to download from cnr.com the drivers for alsa and I was unable to get the software installer to work. Also there is no Volume controls any where.Help jeb70
